Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF Wyoming Rear EnderDate: 02/06/19 06:57 BNSF Wyoming Rear Ender Author: texchief1 Apparently a BNSF coal train has rear ended another in a remote canyon in Wendover Canyon. Three engines derailed and 4 cars of coal. The Casper paper reports that 6000 gallons of diesel were spilled into the North Platte River. An engineer and conductor were injured, but not life threatening, but had to be brought out of the canyon on a hyrail vehicle as the canyon was so remote.
I guess BNSF does not have PTC on this line or it is not set up yet. This remote canyon was north of the Guernsey Reservoir. About all I know. Maybe somebody else can contribute more details.
