Little local, Big sky
Author: kyrasmus

Friday morning, I caught UP's Lynndyl local working the Azomite loading spur at Sharp, UT. After what has been a mostly wet February, skies were clear along the Wasatch Front, although by early evening snow would be flying once again!

1) With one crew member tending the mainline switch, the other makes the joints in the spur and knocks the hand brakes off. The local has hung on to the seven empty cement cars for Ash Grove Cement east of Leamington.

2) The local starts to pull back south onto the main with all 6 cars that were in the spur. The rear 4 are loads that will go with the local, the head two empties will be re-spotted.

3) As the last car nears the mainline switch, the coal piles of the loadout at Sharp are visible to the left. When I got to Springville, an Intermountain Power empty was prepped to head south and load for the plant north of Delta.
