Reefer Madness In Mojave...........
Author: Fiftyfooter

Last Thursday 3/14, BNSF ran a solid unit reefer train NB thru Mojave! I am thinking stored cars headed to the valley for the growing season.
Nice mix of ATSF, BNSF and 2 BN green cars. Must have been a least 80 of them!

Nice pictures of an unusual move.  However, those aren't reefers.  Those are 60 foot insulated boxcars used for wine, canned goods, beer, and things of that nature.

AAR class RB, for "Bunkerless refrigerator," no? But yeah, I'd only consider a car with temperature control apparatus (heating/cooling) a "refrigerator" car.

ATSF and BNSf ran the "Wine Train" a couple of times/week over the Tehachapi's.  Could be this train?

Many of those cars were originally placarded to return to BN Agent Golden. CO and were used in exclusive Coors beer service. At one time, the BN ran 3 "beer runs" per day on the former C & S branch.

Nice catch.  A nice looking block of cars to see indeed.

Probably headed for the Modesto & Empire Traction interchange, where they use LOTS of these boxcars for their customers in many warehouses.  Lots of food shipments, wine shipments, etc.

Are there any freight cars left in America that have not been tagged?

I thought that RBs and RBLs had recently been reclassified from reefers to boxcars.
