Through the Destruction
Author: billmeeker

A westbound BNSF train off the "Inside Gateway" threads down the Feather River Canyon at Poe siding.  This was the scene of the devastating "Camp Fire" that leveled the nearby town of Paradise in November of last year.  This was the first time we had been back up here since the fire, and it was quite sobering.  This devestation went on for perhaps 20-25 miles.   The second photo is ironic.  Fire authorites were overwhelmed by the size and speed of this fire.  In the third photo, we are following a pilot car through the single-lane closures on State Route 70 due to fire cleanup that will probably continue for years to come.

You will be suprized at how fast the brush comes back. as for the treees thats another story.  Tal Mount St Helens as an example of the tree re-growth  What was that 1982, (Nope 1980 ) the trees should be around 35' tall by now.   39 years ago. unbeleavable.
