She had a hard time pronouncing “bbbeeen, Santa fey Northern.”  Then the anchor asked if any crossings were blocked as she frantically looked around.

I remember all the washing machine parts which seemed to lay scattered for years after the Rose Canyon derailment. There was also a Hobo that ended up in the hospital after catching out on that ride.

I remember that Rose Canyon wreck!

Caused by a broken wheel on a 2 bay cement hopper!

Watched the cleanup from above! One piggyback car being lifted by
a Cat 988 loader and watching them push it out of the way and then
because the trailer was damaged, they trashed the whole load!

Antoher loader moving into the end of another pig car, encountered the end
of a section of rail and while pushing against the rail, you could hear the rail snap
and shrapnel from the rail, impacting the hillside just below where we were standing!

One car, a large tank car had derailed and was leaking it's load into Rose Creek!
A loader was busy building a berm around the car to prevent it's load from flowing into
the creek. it turned out the load was Fish Oil and the decision was made to knock down
the berm and let the fish oil flow back to where it came from in the first place!!

A total of 17 cars had piled up in this derailment.

More! You wouldn't recognize the area now! I'll post some pics of then and now. Trolley extension has changed the whole area!
