Date: 12/07/19 07:23 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: BAB Nose section does not look from the view like a 737 one hard to tell for sure. If it is then could be there was a fuse that had its screwed up.
Date: 12/07/19 07:44 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: MSE The flat part of the fuselage, ahead of the cockpit, is where the weather radar goes. The nose cone is placed on top of the radar's antenna.

Date: 12/07/19 09:00 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: wesleygreer The nose-section looks like it's a 757's, which Boeing doesn't make anymore. Haven't seen the nose section of a plane on that train in at least 10 years.

Date: 12/07/19 11:34 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: czuleget By the way I found out about the last 747 tail section will be or has left the Hawthorne plant bound for Everett WA. this past week. ending a long history in Hawthorne. space X is going to be taking over the space.
Date: 12/07/19 16:17 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: PHall The only 747's being built right now are 747-8F freighters. The 777 and 787 took the passenger business away from the 747.
2 engines are cheaper to feed then 4. The freighters need 4 engines because of the weight they can carry. Max Takeoff weight on the 747-8F freighter is 985,000 pounds. They did testing at over one million pounds during flight test. Date: 12/07/19 16:20 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: PHall howeld Wrote:

Yeah, the first P-8's were being assembled about then. Takes awhile to flight test a new design. Date: 12/08/19 15:02 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: EricSP I know it takes a while but it seems unlikely that the fuselages would have been completed nearly 8 years before the first flight.
https://boeing.mediaroom.com/2009-04-27-Boeing-P-8A-Poseidon-Successfully-Completes-1st-Flight It looks like two 737-800s and one 737-900. If I remember correctly they put some type of protective covering over the fuselage. Date: 12/08/19 16:48 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: fbe Note there are no rear doors on the fuselages which is not common on passenger aircraft.
Date: 12/08/19 17:34 Re: Boeing train at Santa Fe Jct. Author: EricSP It appears the rear doors have already been installed. Note that the fuselage is not smooth in that area.
P-8s only have one emergency escape door over the wing (https://flightaware.com/photos/view/5873396-a2fb700ed7ee5d17b3f31036a36a62272e174c5f/aircrafttype/P8/sort/votes/page/1) so they definitely were not P-8s. But they do have the rear door. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/08/19 17:35 by EricSP. |
