4014: was it worth the wait?

UP 4014 was scheduled to leave Hays, KS at 8:00 am. Dutifully I went into Shively Field a little early on the west end of town in heavy snowfall just knowing that UP would keep 4014 on schedule. One hour and over four inches of snow later I finally heard that deep steam whistle that gives one goosebumps. The steam and snow combination was perfect. Yes Virginia, it was worth the wait!

Well, I suppose #4014 was thinking, "Hey, this is a little too much like Sherman Hill... I wish I could've just stayed in Pomona."  LOL

In all, one of the most extraordinary railfanning chases I've ever experienced! The snowfall really made the day...
Would I wait again? Absolutely, you bet! :^)
