Western Railroad Discussion > Some Red in the BasinDate: 06/03/20 19:40 Some Red in the Basin Author: funnelfan Followed the Columbia Basin Railway's Connell Turn into and back out of Connell on Tuesday. They had a pair of SD9's and 18 cars going into Connell and brought back 30 cars. As they were pulling clear of the yard lead at Connell to back the cars into the yard for interchange, the Z-CHCPTL overtook the train.

Small railroads like this which can generate 20 or more cars at a time for interchange are the ones that have good relations and revenue streams with the Class 1 carriers. Small roads with less cars are always "behind the gun" to stay alive. Thanks for posting these shots. GK Date: 06/04/20 20:07 Re: Some Red in the Basin Author: coach Wow--lots of BNSF and UP reefers moving here. Frozen potatoes, or fresh fruit / frozen fruit products?? Great to see.
Meanwhile, behind our truck yard in Newark, CA (SF Bay Area), UP has tons of stored reefers--all the new ones. Salinas Valley and Watsonville aren't far away---the 2 places that generate HUGE amounts of reefer traffic (for trucks these days...). Coach |
