Question about Amtrak’s heritage fleet
Author: Sp1110

I know that Amtrak has some baggage cars that were built in the 1930’s. Did Amtrak ever have any heritage cars from the 1910’s or 20’s?

What was the oldest car that Amtrak owned back in the 70’s?

Your terminology is confusing:  Heritage Fleet refers to the cars Amtrak rebuilt for head-end power in the late 1970s and early 1980s.  As far as I know, nothing built before 1949 or so was rebuilt to Heritage Fleet.  Is that your question?
