UP Eastern Kansas Operations Question
Author: WichitaJct

It seems the UP has had a long-standing practice of holding EB trains at Lawrence (Ks.) and other places (such as Linwood Ks.). This was usually not an everyday type of thing. I assumed it was because of congestion in Kansas City. But this summer it has been an everyday thing. A few days ago an EB stack train and a manifest behind that waited two hours for a WB train and then then got their signal. Same thing happened today. Does the UP have a big track project going on, like a bridge replacement project? Just wondering if they are single tracking somewhere and that’s why EBs are being held. Thanks.

Could it be because the UP closed the Armourdale Yard?
