I too loved his posts and photos. Thanks for the mention. Mark Austin (but grew up in East Texas not far from Tyler, which was Con's home.) Date: 08/13/20 17:55 Re: Remembering Con Sweet Author: TonyJ I enjoyed his DRGW steam images. I miss him too.
Date: 08/13/20 19:20 Re: Remembering Con Sweet Author: cewherry When I read this post I went to "Static Photography" on TO's Home Page, left the Category box at "ANY", entered: xtra1188w (cons 'handle'),
checked the "Author" box and sat back to enjoy literally hundreds of images Con Sweet gifted us over an all too short span. What strikes me most is the range of interests Con displayed, ranging from not only railroad subjects but also his trucks, anything mechanical and, of course his beloved Tennessee Pass and photos of family and friendships he made wherever he roamed. A treasure lost but the images remain. We miss you, Con. Charlie Date: 08/14/20 12:04 Re: Remembering Con Sweet Author: Gonut1 I remember him for his "Train Parts". What he called images of odd ball freight and MOW cars. 8 Years, Wow.
Gonut Date: 08/14/20 15:43 Re: Remembering Con Sweet Author: tomstp He came and filmed many of Southwestern Live Steamer meets in Austin and Ft Worth Tx. in the 1980's and early 1990's.
Date: 08/14/20 20:09 Re: Remembering Con Sweet Author: 2-10-2 My brother (living in Tyler at the time) and I met Con at what would become his "corner". Supremely nice man. We stayed in touch until his last weeks.
We found out we also shared a common interest in the tiny burb of Thornton, TX, pop 450 or so in Limestone Co. I believe one of his photos shows my brother and I at the Tyler depot. 2-10-2 Date: 09/06/20 10:41 Re: Remembering Con Sweet Author: TexasEagle77 I still catch myself wanting to ask him questions about the central Texas railroad scene.
