another UP train on the ground
Author: cvrhoghead

Just heard from a friend, the UP had a derailment over by Maxwell Ne.  Sounds like a gerneral frieght.

MNPNL (Manifest North Platte to North Little Rock, AR). 30+ cars on the ground. All mains blocked.

FRA needs to look over this railroad

Looks disturbingly similar to the Laramie wreck. Cars sandwiched together and right at a crossover again too!

Unreal 2 so close on the same day.
Certainly seems UP derailments have gone up considerably.... not so much BNSF from what I read anyway.

Disasters come in three's. That probably is not correct, but we tend to group them that way. I hope UP can go a long time without another big one, but with big-ass PSR trains, who knows?

Question is where will the third on happen? They always seem to happen in threes.

A guy on Virtual Ralifan chat room said,
"2CBTWL Coal Black Thunder, WY to West Labadie, MO with the CNRFK Coal Black Thunder South, WY to Kansas City, MO (KCS) this train derailed early this morning at Lewellwen, NE when PTC blacked out”  Also, "...6 knuckles broke between the midtrains and the headend when the train slid back together 2 cars went on the ground”
Lewellen is between North Platte and Northport/Bridgeport on the mostly coal South Morrill Sub.

I heard as of 0935, no through freights past the Laramie camera, but now the camera is off YouTube and back to pay only.

Looks like at least one track might be open according to North Platte ATCS.

PSR = deferred track maintenance, less car inspection.

I am wondering where the extreme heat is factoring in here.

What is it going to take for UP top management to realize thy have a serious issue at hand? This rediculous;it's worse than what happened during the CNW and SP merger periods.
