Western Railroad Discussion > A Smoked In Saturday On The BNSF Lakeside Sub

It was a hazardus smoke day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Northern Transcon with a high-low of 78-55. Was supposed to be a lot warmer, but sun was blocked by the smoke. I would go out just enough to grab trains and get back in the house. You can smell and taste the smoke which rolled in quickly yesterday afternoon. Traffic is at 26 trains since midnight with more on the way. Here are some of the trains from today and yesterday.

9/11/2020

1. WB 338pm manifest train with BNSF 8135-5176 on the point with no DPU and a friendly toot-toot-wave from the hogger.
2. WB 348pm oil train with BNSF 3899-6291 on the pull with DPU's.
3. DPU's BNSF 7715-7495 on same train.

4. WB 423pm manifest train with BNSF 8180-8535 on the point with DPU.
5. Lots of boxcars rolling in same train.
6. DPU BNSF 5223 on same train.

7. WB 553pm grain train with BNSF 4122-4233 on the pull with DPU's.
8. DPU's BNSF 8146-8786 on same train.
9. Bright sun covered in smoke at 624pm.

10. EB 1224pm intermodal train with BNSF 8135-5176 on the point with DPU.
11. EB 126pm 4x2x0 manifest train with BNSF 5723, CP 9644 and BNSF 4175-7813 on the pull with DPU's.
