UP Pilot Rock Branch
Author: GCCIteacher

Its apparent the Pilot Rock Branch is embargoed if not abandoned. Picture two is the load out tracks at WoodGrain Lumber for both the center beams (left)and chip cars (right). The overhead transfer tubes for the chips has been completely removed while dirt, rust and debris cover all the tracks within the mill.  Picture three are the tracks at Rieth where the Pilot Rock Branch splits from the main. A nice layer of rust covers these rails too.

Quick side note--the rails at Smith Foods in Weston are rusted/debris covered too---I'd be surprised if that plant sees rail service ever again ..................................

So apparently, the mill is still open, they just don't want to ship via the UP any more?  If that's the case, chalk up another victory for PSR!

BTW, this branch runs south off the UP main line just west of Pendleton, OR.
