UP 8890, with UP6687 and UP 6268, are seen westbound in the late afternoon at Picachu, Arizona on the UP (ex-SP).

Newman Peak (4480') is in the background.

The Picacho area is one of the few areas on Union Pacific’s Sunset Route California-Texas that a yellow over lunar is seen.  Such is seen westbound at East Picacho for a signal at West Picacho for authorization to move onto the Phoenix Line.  The switches are 30 M.P.H. in the area EXCEPT the crossover to the Phoenix Line, which is 25 M.P.H., hence, the yellow over lunar in advance!

It was nice to see your crisp photo of that area.  It brought back many memories.
