UP 36th Street Yard Tracks Built over New I-70 Alignment
Author: cozephyr

The Interstate 70 Corridor construction has reached a stage where Union Pacific's tracks are being laid on the new overpass bridge north end 36th Street Yard, Denver, CO, 12 October 2021.

I-70 had a viaduct over the Union Pacific tracks before this new depressed interstate alignment was built starting about two years ago.  All images were taken from inbound Rocky Mountaineer passenger train.

Is there a slow order thru that switch? Lot going on in Denver, going to be interesting to see how far
North light rail gets.

The north RTD line runs parallel to the BNSF line and is already finished

There's talk of even going farther North.

Believe the talk was some 40 miles North of Denver.

RTD owns the ROW of the Dent Branch and the Boulder Branch, they could build to Boulder much cheaper than along or with the BNSF ROW, but it isn't the preferred routing
