I saw this mentioned in another thread, but I don't know if the video has been shared here before.

The decline of Western Civilization. Well, at least UP is "aware".......  Good thing they got rid of all those unnecessary UP Police to improve the OR.  Utterly Pathetic.

Theft, and fighting theft, has been part of Western Civilization (and every other civilization), from day one.  This is not a decline but simply an adaptation to modern conditions.

The vast majority have learned that there a very low risk of consequences for criminal and immoral activity.

Yeah "UPRR is aware".  Railfans are asked to step back 10 feet otherwise they are standing on RR property.

Yet look at this.  I mean - look at that ROW.  This has been going on for a while.

I go back to my comments from a few weeks ago, Metrolink stops the Lathrop Z for 2 hours at Saugus and an hour at Soledad,
so how hard is it to find a PO unit to go spend some time with the train? Are they truly down to zero PO units in the LA Basin? I
agree, the word is pathetic! Not to mention stopping nearly every Z at Tehachapi to close doors, more pathetic! The darling of Wall
Street is the dunce of TO!!

The real question is why should FedEx Ground ship via UP anymore?  I wouldn't.

At least the person shown boarding a train at the end is wearing a hard hat.  But where's their hi-viz vest and steel toe boots?  :-)

It’s not just FedEx in LA. Check out what one former FedEx employee did in Alabama. They dumped hundreds of packages into a ravine.

So is this stuff happening to BNSF trains too? Or is this just a "pick on UP thing"?

Virtual Railfan had a grab bag of open container and trailer doors on Cajon a few weeks ago. Some bad 2-3-4 in a row, other trains had just a few.

The thieves were very selective about what they opened.

I would imagine employees of shipping companies tip off theves on shipments for a cut of the profits.

As someone said earlier, adapting to local conditions.     But they have a "task force" looking into things!    Start prosecuting petty crimes again and the word will get out, no task force needd.   This is going to happen soon in NYC and crime will go down.

As they should be.  Just because scum bags are doing illegal things elsewhere does not give foamers the right to be on private property.

The original broken Windows theory of policing called for detaining any turnstile jumper, two seat taker, spitter in the subway or bus, etc. Pat them down, check ID for wants and warrants.

Illegal weapons on a felon? Crack? You go for a ride

Funny, my local Bail Bonds office seems to still be in business, hmmmmm....
And I'm in California...
