BNSF power (likely the inbound Chicago, IL to Denver Z-train power) was on the Buck Main (lower left) moving into BNSF's Denver Locomotive Servicing area 5 January 2022.

3 - Denver Union Station lit for Denver Stock Show 5 January 2022.  Stock Show parade was planned for 6 January was canceled account bitter cold weather and icy conditions.  Stock Show opens Saturday, 8 January.

Looking at the second image showing BNSF 785, I'm seeing more and more of the older BNSF locomotives equipped with some sort of what appears to be a sheet metal box around the exhaust stack.  I have yet to see a detailed photo of one of them.  I'm wondering it it is some "quick connect" method to place a cap on the stack when the locos are stored, or if it serves some other purpose.  BNSF seems to be the only railroad doing this, and only on their older locomotives.  Maybe someone who works on these locomotives or runs them could offer an explanation.  Thanks.

One other note:  I was amused reading that the National Western Stock Show parade was cancelled due to cold temperatures and snow.  Years back, when I lived in Colorado, weather, unless it is was just ridiculously bad, never cancelled any Stock Show event, including the parade.  Just shows how badly we're "going soft", I think.  It was also fun to see the Grand Champion steer displayed (alive) in the lobby of the Brown Palace Hotel--then Denver's most luxurious hotel.  That Colorado that I loved so much is mostly gone--ruined by "progress."
