N S powered grain train Tacoma WA

 #  1  N S   #  8142  north with a Tacoma  Temco grain train.  train had all  N S  power. train is at Ruston WA. Date.  Jan. 8  2022
 #  2  N S # 4145  DPU at Ruston WA. Date.  Jan. 8 2022

The DP appears to have an EOT on it.  Wouldn't a DPU have the same capabilities as an EOT device?   So I reckon my question would be why have an EOT on a rear DPU?

Required per BNSF ABTH rules on NS and CP locomotives

Believe reason for FRED is that NS and CP locomotives headlights shut off when units shut down  with the Automatic Engine Start/Stop is activated.  Thus  the requirement for a rear marker is in violation of FRA rules.
