Up North in Alaska
Author: train1275

On August 22, 2009 AKRR 4007, one of the "freight hogs" takes a cruise train south to Whittier with Engineer Bob Yost at the throttle, seen here as they roll through Bird Point, AK south of Anchorage and just north of Girdwood, on a misty Saturday afternoon. More than likely Harry Ross was the Conductor.

Are the Colorado Railcar domes self-powering, or is one of the cab car F40s on the other end for HEP?

Miss the ARR and Alaska in general.  I haven't been back since 2015.  I'd planned to spend a week or two up there in the fall of 2020, but that was before everything went sideways.

This trainset was self powered but I do not know the details of the cruise train car fleet.
