Since the doubled up 13,000' train derailed at two different spots in the train, sounds like the in-train forces overcame the ability of the flanges to keep the train on the rails.

I wonder if they think it was two trains coupled up because of the DP units.  While there have been some manifests "doubled up," usually it's unit trains that are combined for part of the journey..  A 13000 ft length isn't unusual for a manifest anymore.

A 13,000 foot manifest train is essentially a "doubled up" train, it's just by design where they get rid of one train symbol and add all those cars to another, creating the monster.

Looks like it was a UP 2X1X1 manifest.  Interesting to see how one train derailed in two different places.
