The bus in picture 21 belongs to Complete Coach Works who sell, resell and rebuild busses of all sizes.
We see them doing test drives around here all the time.

Pretty good looking bunches of power Larry.  The FXE unit is exceptionally attractive.

18 looks like Huntington Beach, what with it looking like the line is on a bluff above the ocean.  Based on the two oil wells at the right, I would guess that the 1044 is a bit northwest of Main St., paralleling Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).  At one time, the land to the right of the line was covered with many, many oil wells. The Huntington Beach station was at Main St. and PCH.  That excursion was on the cover of Spencer Crump's book Ride the Big Red Cars.  A different photo, but I guess near the spot in photo 18.

Ritzville Action
Weather is favorable for railfanning.
Geometry train was a nice catch.
Like the colorful container traffic.
Unit Of The Day is FXE #4049.

Historic Traction
18 - Absolutely great scene. The photographer made a super location choice.
20 - Excellent action photo of #1118. Also, enjoyed checking out the autos.
21 - Nice photo of one of my favorites, a GM New Look.

Thanks for another super nice posting of Ritzville Action and terrific Historic Traction.

No 18 is without a doubt seen here somewhere along Pacific Electric's Newport-Balboa line. According to
the pacificelectric.org website the date is October 30, 1949. EDIT: After reading SGillings post above, the
location of the photo of 1044 is at or very near Huntington Beach. Thanks Steve.

The entire length of the double-track line that Los Angeles Inter-Urban Railway built from North Long Beach to
Balboa was 23.27 miles. Passenger service beyond Newport to Balboa was abandoned on June 9, 1940 and
final passenger service from Los Angeles to Newport Beach ran on June 30, 1950. The entire line south of
N. Long Beach to Huntington Beach was single-tracked in 1941. The track we see here was the pre-1941
'inbound main' with the 'outbound' on the water side of the pole line.

No 19: PE owned a total of 30 Pullman-Standard PCC's all delivered in November 1940. Initially 17 of the cars were
assigned to the Glendale Burbank line with the remaining 13 assigned to the Venice Short LIne. Experience soon
showed that track conditions on the VSL drove the 13 PCC's off the line to join the original 17 on the Glendale line
where they remained until abandonment of rail service there in June 1955. Following their service the entire 30 car
PCC fleet was stored inside PE's subway where they stayed until being sold to General Urquiza Railway in Buenos
Aires, Argentina in 1959.

Here 5001 is far from its home turf in Glendale. Railfan's liked to choose unlikely match-ups of cars and routes, which we
see here. In actual service the 5000's didn't regularly call at 6th & Main.

Thanks for your comment about my hand.  Have to type with right hand only until stitches are removed from my left hand in two weeks.
Stay well and happy.

Thanks Charlie for your interesting classroom covering many topics, much appreciated. Wish I could have taken a ride on the 1044 to Newport Beach, but I was only 2 years old in 1949. Thanks Allen, if I had to type with my right hand, I'd be out of business since I'm left handed, lol. I guess I use both hands.

Further on the PE 1044 trip at Huntington each.
Note that the car has Wheel Trolleys installed as the Newport Beach Line was not lubricated by the Trolley Greaser.

Thanks for the first-class photo and your scan.

If I may correct the 111 photo,,that bus is Privately owned by someone who did work for CCW . and he still owns it.

And yes the 49th Street Wig wag is gone,,but we did photograph it with my ex Sacramento Flxible in 2016.
