BNSF Peak Season 2022 Poster Picture
Author: jtwlunch

TO gang:  Does anyone have a picture or a scan of the BNSF Peak Season 2022 poster?  I would like to put that with a short article I am writing on the now 30th Anniversary of UPS Peak Season Zero Service Failures we started on the Santa Fe.  I thought I saw it on Linkedin, but can't find it.  Thanks for any help in advance.  Jim Wilson

A lot of “ones” on there. Suprised it doesn’t say “One man crew” in place of perfection.

I think a more accurate slogan would be "Just how bad can we treat our customers before they finally tell us to pound sand?"

I would back you up if 75% of my conductors didn’t sleep. Unfortunately I’m slowly beginning not to care about one man crews.

Just because you don’t sleep doesn’t mean the rest of your throttle pulling pals don’t. In 15 years I can count on one hand how many hogs didn’t sleep…and I can’t even keep track of how many times I’ve had to take over and run as a conductor because the hog couldn’t keep his eyes open…so give me a break buddy.

Divide and conquer.  And so it continues.  Different vote outcomes by each union doesn't help the unity.

I just hope peak season fails. And I hope I can be part of that reason. I won't go looking for trouble but it's common for trouble to find us these days.

I also find these numbers questionable. I have watched stuff go sideways with Z's that ended up massively delayed and yet they always have a perfect peak season.

And when UPS stops using BNSF you’ll happily be out of a job I hope.

I am not going to sabotage my job because I hate my employer....I am going to DO MY JOB because I love my customers....if I am called for a train I am going to get on and do my job the best I can...I can only fail if the company sets me up to fail....I will see that early and do my best to mitigate it...but there will be ZERO sabotage.

Same here. I just follow their instructions, and comply with their rules, and open my pocket to let all the money roll in. The carriers are their own worst enemies. No need to sabotage them. They do it on their own.

I should have clarified I don't go out of my way to make issues. I let the issues work themselfs out and lately it's all to easy. When it starts going south I sit back and let dispatch and TM come up with a plan. 99% of the time that plan will make it worse.

Ill be fine. But big orange deserves everything they get. Massive amount of power failures, double trains tying things up, crew issues, etc. I'd like to think a failed peak season would wake them up but I'm sure they will find some reason why it was someone else's fault.

I bet you're a real thrill to work with.  Just dump it on the dispatcher and TM while you sit on your ass.  Yeah, you're a real pal to the rest of the working railroaders out there.

I get no complaints from guys and gals out there. I will infact help another crew out like the other day when i helped a conductor get water in a DP unit. But the sad fact is the RR's treat us like crap so they should not be suprised when we dont jump up and down looking to help them out of bad situations they have created. Its especially funny when we watch stuff go down we have been trying to warn them about for years. So yes I am a real pal to other rails. Managment can suck it.

I just don’t get why you work for a company you hate so bad. I’ve enjoyed my time at your “big orange”. Yeah the hours suck but that’s the life we all chose. Management isn’t bad, you should try it out sometime before you start with the whole “management can suck it” comment.. yeah top level management could have made some better calls but that’s way above the pay grade of any of the managers you’ve spoken with probably. I really hate how divided this stuff is nowadays, we all work for the same big company... it sucks, but it’s still a great place at the same time.

You must be retired. Big orange has really gone downhill rapidly the last few years. And managers really vary from terminal to terminal. Some places simply have a toxic culture which is fed by the war on labor that Ft. Worthless has decreed.

Either retired or hasn’t been around very long, or bounces back and forth bootlegging trying to get a permanent position.

I saw what you meant as soon as I read it. In the 80s (bad then, worse now) lots of us had to teach ourselves to live in and environment that required us to do things that we would have been fired for years earlier. Lots of the folks I worked with developed that same self-preservation strategy: do whatever we were told, no matter how stupid, as long as nothing got bent, nobody got fired, and nobody was hurt or killed. Expensive? Service failure? Oh well. We got tired of fighting to do the right thing - and being threatened for it. Try too  hard - well, one guy in our office dropped dead on the job, one died way before his time, probably had something to do with closing the bar every night after work.. Me - out after 28 years because I didn't think I could live throught two more.

Yup - got what you were saying.
