Cabazon
Author: MacBeau

Beaumont Hill on the Yuma Sub is a landscape of wind turbines and billboards that becomes more compositionally challenging with each passing year. A westbound 2x2 splits the control point signals two years ago this month awash in low winter light. The DP hides the large turbine that normally detracts from the view upgrade.
Be of good cheer,

Cabazon, when the Interstate went around the Cabazon many moons ago the place almost dried up and blew
away only to be rescued by an Indian Casino. Ah progress.

It's hard to believe what Beaumont looks like now compared to the old photos I've seen (I was never there in the old days, alas).  Seems like it was a desert wasteland back then and now just part of suburbia.

Like Banning in the fifties was a little almost midwestern looking town. Wood houses, litle stucco, trees
and narrow streets. The tract house boom in the LA Basin didn't occur until the sixties and in the "burbs"
much later.

One of the better places to catch many of the older rock and roll acts that currently perform on the Indian Casino circuit.

Nice pair there, and I sure do agree about the windmill and billboard blight that's overrun the area.

A big stinkin 15 story hotel in the middle of that doesn't help either.

Nice pair of images, but Cabazon will never be the same without the SP.
