BNSF Phoenix Local Makes a Scenic Sidetrip
Author: spider1319

The Phoenix Local makes an unusual scenic side trip to Matthie for the interchange with the A&C.Castle Hot Springs is the usual location for the trade, but for two days that siding was occupied by a baretable train.Seen below in the Hassayampa River Canyon, the Local is returning to Phoenix or Mobest Yard. The wait at Matthie for the Z train made for good light in the Canyon. The image is from November 2022. So who usually uses this track, if not the BNSF local?

Love  the rock work. Perfectly weathered.

Seriously, that is one knockout photo. And one of the few places you can work a saguaro into a train pic. Bravo!

This is BNSF's Phoenix Sub main line. All trains to and from Phoenix use it plus the normal A&C interchange train. Good one Bill.

Difference here being the local went all the way to Mathie for interchange, vs. the normal turning point at Castle Hot Springs.
