Sorry abou t that. Multitasking and given the speed at which railfans are on hand with drones nowadays, I didn't think to look at the date.

There are flood warnings in effect for the Mississippi River in that area.

Bottom line, this is going to be real mess to get cleaned up as with the flood waters and spongy embankments and haz-mat. https://www.news8000.com/news/local-news/train-derails-near-de-soto/article_cfe51e20-e523-11ed-83f9-e3292d569b1d.html

My son went north this morning on a KCKNTW and is safe and dry in the motel.  Thoughts and Prayers to the crew members who are enduring this incident right now.

Derailment is just south of the DeSoto crossovers.   Channel 3000 out of Madison     https://www.channel3000.com/news/bnsf-train-derails-in-crawford-county-near-de-soto-approximately-20-cars-involved/article_67f3a110-7ea0-5ffe-9336-7ed0404d9611.html

Or :  https://www.wkow.com/news/breaking-news-four-injured-in-crawford-co-derailment/article_2239edc4-f9b1-5d67-8b80-a8bb2479e112.html

Seems to be conflicting reports of number of injured.  Also, Motors appear to be on the rail.

Just what every derailment needs:  Congressional staff on site demanding answers.Rep. Derrick Van Orden released the following statement regarding the derailed BNSF train:  “My staff was just made aware of a train derailment in our District south of the Lansing Bridge in Ferryville. We have begun to coordinate with BNSF, FEMA, Wisconsin Emergency Management, the state and national Departments of Transportation, Crawford County officials, and Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-2), whose District may also be impacted, to get answers on what occurred. My staff is traveling to the site, and Congressman Troy Nehls (TX-22), who Chairs the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Rail, has also made staff available to assist our team. We will continue to monitor the situation and determine next steps.”

Made the big tme.  It's on cnn.com's home page: https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/27/us/wisconsin-trail-derailment/index.html

I am not sure whether I saw this in a prior post, but this story says the bridge to Lansing, Iowa (where there is street-running) is down.

Bridge to Lansing is fine, approach road is flooded. Lots of roads are closed either flooded or near so.

Talk about a hornet's nest being kicked over.

Can you imagine being the BNSF designated-hitter fielding what is sure to come from all directions?
