Western Railroad Discussion > From the Air on CajonDate: 07/29/24 23:35 From the Air on Cajon Author: donner_dude1 Here's a shot I took from my drone while enjoying a spring morning on the hill overlooking Sullivans Curve on Cajon Pass.
While it appears the UP train on the Mojave Sub is racing the BNSF Stack train downhill, the heavy UP manifest is slowly easing into the Canyon Siding to wait on the morning Denver Z train that is due any miinute. A keen eye (on a larger monitor) can pick out the 3 unit DPU Helper near the Hwy 138 crossing in the distance. Edited 3 time(s). Date: 07/30/24 06:47 Re: From the Air on Cajon Author: hotrail So much to see there if you know where to look. Mormom Rocks are prominent in the upper center, and Stein's Hill is the small hill that is just above the bridge that carries Hwy 138 over the BNSF "south track" (the rightmost track).
I love the fact that Interstate 15 is out of the frame to the right. I never feel like the traffic jam enhances a photo. Bravo for the fine drone work. Date: 07/30/24 06:47 Re: From the Air on Cajon Author: 3rdswitch Beautiful clear day in the pass.
JB Date: 07/30/24 06:51 Re: From the Air on Cajon Author: timz Both trains are coming toward you?
And the "Denver Z" goes the other way? Is that another DPU right of center? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/30/24 11:49 by timz. Date: 07/30/24 07:59 Re: From the Air on Cajon Author: Gonut1 A lot of scenery there!

Nathan Date: 07/31/24 06:03 Re: From the Air on Cajon Author: bmarti7 That 3x3x0 train would be the practice of combining two trains which is becoming quite frequent for a railroad that doesn't practice PSR.
