Unpatched SP Paint at Watsonville Jct
Author: DelMonteX

Sunday afternoon featured a quartet of SP units, of which, only one was patched. Here is SP 577, which is I believe, an SD40M-2. The location is Watsonville, CA on the Coast line.

Are reefers in distance part of train or just stashed in yard?

Reefers are parked on an adjacent track for a contractor who cleans and fuels them.

Was the CNW 909 a GP40? Information on the Espee.railfan.net site, indicates that a larger order was placed with MK for these SD40's and they had to dig around a bit to find carbodies and ended up using a number of GP40's. Information on that site seems to indicate that the 8577 was built (rebuilt) using a GP40 carbody.

Glad you saw the post, otherwise I wouldn't have know how interesting this unit is.
