There has been a rail grinder photo or two posted but I dont think a photo of one like this has been on before...lately at least. Caught this in British Columbia a few years back. Pandrol Jackson working on some turnouts.

Pretty cool! I've never seen a grinder like that.

Any idea of the origins of this piece of equipment? Is it an old locomotive chassis that's been converted?

Interesting... I guess it would make sense that there would be times something is needed to do small areas, without having to bring the whole big one out. This one almost looks like it has a Euro origin.

Its possible that both photos are of the same grinder. CPRchris' photo has the pony trucks/platforms added to allow space for dust collectors.
