I highly recommend checking the website, Steam Train Diary. It lists steam locomotive excursions in the United States and Canada. While the website states that it is not intended be a complete listing of steam excursions, based on what I've read on Train Orders regarding excursions, the John McIvor, the webmaster (and a TO member) does an excellent job of compiling information on these trips.

You can also check Union Pacific's excursion website:

In addition to the Frontier Days Excursions, there are positioning trips between Denver and Cheyenne. In previous years, one-way trips from Denver to Cheyenne were offered with a bus ride back to Denver. These were sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club. I do not know if they will be offered this year. I rode the one-way 2002 excursion with 3985 and had a great time.

Hi Dave!
Thanks for mentioning the 'Steam Train Diary' - yes we try to keep updated with US and Canadian steam events.
We have a new web address:

Hope this helps!
Best wishes, John McIvor
