Back again with another scribble.
Author: C.P.Huntington

First of all, my thanks go to Mr. LoggerHogger for posting the original photo (and my apologies for
"stealing" it). I thought at first that this was a Shay but while working on the drawing I
realized that this must be the Willamette that was recently restored. The steam chests appear
to be on the outside of the cylinders. Perhaps someone can confirm this?

No Photoshop used here - just a pencil, eraser, pen and sheet of paper. (Plus about 13 1/2 hours!)

Nicely done. I will send a copy on to Greg Kamholz who was the subject in my photo.

What do you mean? If the steam chests are on the outside of the cylinders does that make it not a shay?

Beautiful drawing! I draw trains too, we should share work back and forth. I hate that people can make fake paintings with photo shop these days. Its obvious you have a gift for the mechanical drawing.

Perhaps I should of said "face toward the outside". If you are in the cab and looking forward
the steam chests on a Willamitte will face to your right. On a Shay the steam chests face
toward the front and back of the engine.

And thank you everyone for your kind comments.

I like the idea of occasional RR art on the TO site. Many of us have admired the work of Rose, Fogg, Fisher, Winfield, Aszman, etc. While thier work is copyrighted, mabye we can share the work of TO members (I'm not an artist and have nothing to contribute).
