I see no fencing around the facility yet. And with the graffiti shown in picture #4, you really need it. Certainly hope you are providing security to prevent graffiti/vandalism for the engines and cars until you get it finished. And I would include some type of netting to prevent damage to 4449 from objects thrown over the bridge railings.

In the last picture is that Doyle talking to others with his back turned?

The photos with all the graffiti and garbage are taken in the "old neighborhood", the new site (though not far) is in a much better neck of the woods...plus the new site is more secure than it appears I believe. Congrats on what looked to be a trouble-free move guys, and thanks for the photos Chris.

Cheers, Dave

I hope someone takes pictures of Brooklyn Roundhouse with it empty inside before it gets torn down. Such a neat and historic place, but as I saw when I visited a couple time it wasn't the best place for working on these locomotives. I'm glad I was able to see it though.

Well then, if the picture is from the bridge, those buildings on the right are going to go when the light rail is built, correct?
And that rail stacked is for future track for the turntable?

I should have said "I think",thanks for the correction, I must've lost my bearings..maybe there could be a deal made with the taggers (who don't seem to need a work order) They can tag the wall, but they have to pack out a bag of trash in return...

The stacked rail in photo No. 4 is for the Milwaukie Light Rail project. All that rail is due to be welded together in that location and will eventually grade cross the OPR via a diamond and interlock. I'm not sure about the stacked rail in photo No. 8.

Cool pictures Chris!

Bravo--a great day! Certainly among the most distinguished collections of rolling stock anywhere in the country, perhaps the world. My hat is off to all who have accomplished this--let's all get behind 'em. Kurt.

I haven't heard anyone address this matter yet. Were there any lubrication problems on 4449 or 700? It looked like all valve and piston motion was still hooked up. Besides open cylinder cocks, what else could or was done to prevent problems in the valves and pistons when towing the engines cold iron?

Great coverage of the historic move, Chris. I didn't see the 231 in the photos - is it moving at a later date?

The pile of rail in photo 8 was some of the 90 pound rail donated by BNSF...may be used for the turntable extension ...otherwise sold for scrap to raise needed cash.

Glad the move went well. It's sad to see them leave Brooklyn this new building will be wonderful.

Thanks for the photos Chris and now all those great historical locomotives and cars are in a much more permanent home than they were using before. Besides the new home won't leak like a seive as the roundhouse did. Congratulations to all persons involved on a difficult job and completing it without problems.

The PA is being painted one section at a time as work on that section is finished. Doyle hasn't done the roof yet- you can still see just a hint of the old D&H "Warbonnet" on the roof behind the cab. The rest of the unit does indeed have fresh paint. I believe the trucks were sprayed blue on the engineer's side a few years ago for a photo op and have clearly not been painted on the side visible in these photos. It's great to see the PA out and about and looking nearly complete! Looks like they're still working on getting cab doors made...

You folks have a program yet for the Grand Opening? I've penciled in on my schedule to come up to the northwest about that time -- maybe it will have stopped raining!

Any chance that you could send some of that rain this way? We're in the midst of a drought, the likes of which I've not seen, in these parts. The yields on corn and soybeans will be severely affected, if this keeps up.
