I believe the restoration was moving along nicely, but I haven't heard anything new in at least months. I saw pictures of the progress... that's about all I've got.

At the moment, Steamtown's 0-6-0 No. 26 is getting the attention. That has to get out the door first. The boiler has been hydro tested. The frame looks almost ready, the drive wheels have their rods on. I know nothing but the work on No. 26 looks beautiful to me.

No. 3713 is sitting in green primer with it's firebox top sheet missing. You can get a great view of the top of the crown sheet. Again the work looks great to me.

I can't wait to see this engine run.

It's a beautiful engine and a large Pacific at that. Like I said before, it would be great if something could be worked out so that it could take at least make minimal tour in New England on Pan Am. Talk is that Pan Am is looking at acquiring a Chinese steam loco for publicity purposes. I would think running the 3713 on Pan Am rails would be more worthwhile. If that would happen, I'll not ever say another bad word about Guilford's ventures...<G>

Steam excursions for PR are coming back big time. I feel good to be living right now.
