If #1 is not IOTD tomorrow, the judges have rocks in their collective heads!!! What a beautiful shot. Well done.

You have three great shots, but I keep coming back to number two - your going away shot. These are all IOTD shots to me.

Orange smoke is the product of getting up way too early and not drinking enough coffee.

Wow indeed! Very convincing images of railroading 50+ years ago.

What is that load of pipe? Does C&TS actually haul revenue loads of freight? Or company material gets hauled around on photo excursions? Or?

Best regards,

Rob L.

The pipe loads are "museum" exhibits put together by the Friends to show a bit of how and what the railroad hauled. Usually they are static exhibits sitting in the yard at Chama but they come in really handy for the charter freights. Another thing we tried to do is recreate westbound "blocks" of traffic for Chama, Carbon Junction, and Durango. Eastbound could be more mill run, since the Cumbres turns tended to mix things up. It worked out pretty well although the mix of available cars was somewhat limited.
