That's Webster Road (old U.S. 460) adjacent to the railroad.

Lynchburg, VA. I attach my stupid picture I took there to campare the bridges. Date: 11/25/12 01:05 Re: My first 611 chase in 1983 Author: Ardenwood Date: 11/25/12 07:44 Re: My first 611 chase in 1983 Author: johnacraft arrow611 Wrote:

Fourth shot is Altavista, VA: http://goo.gl/maps/Y0bl8 The 'milepost 326' shot is the Yadkin River bridge just north of Spencer: http://goo.gl/maps/6txz4 The other bridge could be the Catawba at Belmont http://goo.gl/maps/gCVDb , or between Blacksburg and Gaffney http://goo.gl/maps/cyfo1 , but neither is a perfect match. The dates of the trip are April 30 - May 1, overnighting at Salisbury. 611 spent the winter between 1982 and 1983 in Roanoke. She's putting out a lot more smoke in these shots then she usually did in regular service or in her later excursion career. |
