Carson City,NV along with the Comstock area experienced record breaking heat last Saturday. Given the extreme heat, both WCRG 504 along with WCRG 505 are in service behind WCRG 1813 providing fire patrol for the Carson train to Virgina City. Due to the danger of thermal misalignment (sun kinks) WCRG 1956 was called to run ahead of the 3PM train from Virginia City, to Eastgate, ensuring safety on the line.

Photo 2 shows WCRG 1956 holding the main between switches at Eastgate as the train is just seconds away from hitting the North siding switch and arriving at the depot.
