Steam & Excursion > Advil commercial on CMT channelDate: 03/05/14 17:20 Advil commercial on CMT channel Author: DFWJIM I was watching the CMT channel last night and a commercial came on for Advil that featured a steam train. The commercial appeared to be filmed in the Western United States with the premise that a headache can come on with the speed and power of a steam train. Have any of you seen this commercial? Any idea where it may have been filmed at?

The commercial was filmed on Filmore & Western, who I guess ended up with the Lone Ranger prop engine. What I don't get though, is why they used a phony prop engine when F&W has a real serviceable steam engine.

We're talking about trains in a commercial. Along the same lines, TO has been a great resource over the years to identify trains seen in movies and on TV. Have very much enjoyed some of the back stories on these things, like Martin Hansen talking about his time as fireman on the Stand By Me train scenes shot at the McCloud. I always look forward to reading 'what is it?' posts about trains and locomotives seen on TV or film and learning the back stories. Mike Massee Tehachapi, CA Photography, Railroading and more.. Filmore & Western Railway operating on the former Southern Pacific Santa Paula branch.. Cheers, Jack Date: 03/06/14 21:12 Re: Advil commercial on CMT channel Author: MP4093 This is the sanitized version of the commercial. When it first came out a few months ago there was a spokesman standing in the middle of the tracks holding a box of Advil as the train approached rapidly behind him. At the last second the train slides to a stop as he finishes his pitch. The railroads and Operation Lifesaver were outraged at blatant lack of safety and false reality leading people to believe that they can stand on the tracks and the train will just stop. The ad was pulled and changed to the version that is now showing. Oh, and yes it is a fake locomotive.
