It's sad to see the San Bernardino Railroad Days attendance was down this year.

I had a fantastic time riding behind 3751 yesterday with Chris. I'm glad it ran this year because my husband Bob rode this trip last year and it was my turn this year. It was great to see and hear the steam engine again and thank you to all involved for the work and planning in putting this excursion together.

Norm was a fine host of "Tioga Pass" and I had a blast on the platform. To me, there's nothing like being in a vestibule or on a rear platform for a steam excursion. Count me one very happy railfan!

It's sad to see such a trip with a fine steam loco in this day and age with only five cars behind it. I can remember in days past some of the PRS trips have had 15 or so cars with diesels on the head end and all had a good time. Would today's rail fans rather have a newly painted diesel on the front end? Is steam just to keep us old folks happy?

And why no Twitter updates this time around?

I too noticed less people trackside this year than in years past.

My understanding was that for most of the last year the belief was that they weren't going to run it this year due to construction somewhere near the SB depot. Then something changed in recent months where the operation was allowed, but not everybody got the message? That's my impression.

It seems last years updates were via Twitter and this year it was via Facebook. Just a personal preference I guess.

Sorry about that...I was giving the twitter updates last year and was not able to attend the event this year. We tried syncing the updates between Facebook and Twitter but were not able based on how the two accounts were setup initially. Apologies to all for this...hopefully it is something the society will be able to remedy in the future.

The construction schedule of the "first mile" extension on the Redlands Subdivision to E Street was pushed back for a variety of reasons, therefore allowing Railroad Days to happen even though it was initially thought last year the depot area would be under construction at this time.
