Steam & Excursion > NKP 190 going to Spencer?Date: 04/22/14 16:59 NKP 190 going to Spencer? Author: anotherera Just got ORHF's April bulletin in my email box, and it says that Doyle's NKP 190 has been invited to the Streamliners at Spencer event, and will be brought to Portland Union Station on National Train Day, from where it will depart for Spencer. I was wondering if it had been invited, and could be finished enough in time to make the trip. I also wonder if one of the Napa Valley Wine Train engines was invited and could possibly be there.

Joe Date: 04/22/14 17:18 Re: NKP 190 going to Spencer? Author: flash34 This is all true. The 190 was invited to Spencer if it can be made road-worthy. I haven't talked to Doyle in about a week but last he told me was if he can get it ready it will be towed by the 700 to Union Station, then after Train Day get handed off to BNSF to head east.

They are awaiting movement permission from the BNSF prior to making any announcements. Date: 04/22/14 19:53 Re: NKP 190 going to Spencer? Author: Ohiorailfan MrMichael Wrote:

Author: tehachapi-dave I'm guessing the SP E8 and the Warbonnet F units. This is not official info, just speculation.

She'll be the star of the show! Wish I could go -- it'll be SUPER, I know! (Hope the SP 6051 and the Santa FeFs can go, too! Hope springs eternal!) (I wonder: Anyone know about how many F and E units still exist in the US? Wouldn't it be GREAT if ALL of them could go to Spencer this year? I know -- but I can dream, can't I?) Date: 04/23/14 05:44 Re: NKP 190 going to Spencer? Author: Emmo213 Is anybody getting concerned that this event might actually be getting too big? I mean when all the heritage units were there weren't there so many people that it was difficult to walk around?

Most people were friendly enough to let people shoot over their shoulders or move to let another person in to shoot. Well done event. Can't wait for the show. You couldn't cram all the surviving F's and E's in the US into Spencer even if they were all roadworthy and connected to live rails. Here is one list of surviving E's - maybe not 100% accurate, but its tally comes to 50+ units: http://www.thedieselshop.us/SurvivorsEmdE-units.HTML The list of surviving F's is even longer: http://www.thedieselshop.us/SurvivorsEmdFs.HTML > I know -- but I can dream, can't I? Does that mean you're volunteering to spearhead the restoration of GGRM's two SP F7's? ;^) Date: 04/24/14 05:03 Re: NKP 190 going to Spencer? Author: PERichardson Y'all bring a ton of water, hear?
Date: 04/24/14 06:13 Re: NKP 190 going to Spencer? Author: sd24b That E unit list is missing a few and has at least one duplicate listing of the same unit in two places. Just as a heads up.

No can do -- just dreaming. Thanx for the list. I never knew there was one. Hmm....about 100 locomotives -- wonderful. I was just curious about how many of these wonderful locomotives had escaped the scrapper torch. |
