Steam & Excursion > NKP 190 going to Spencer?

Just got ORHF's April bulletin in my email box, and it says that Doyle's NKP 190 has been invited to the Streamliners at Spencer event, and will be brought to Portland Union Station on National Train Day, from where it will depart for Spencer. I was wondering if it had been invited, and could be finished enough in time to make the trip. I also wonder if one of the Napa Valley Wine Train engines was invited and could possibly be there.

It could be an april fools joke. Lord knows I'd love to see that babe being towed to Spencer!

This is all true. The 190 was invited to Spencer if it can be made road-worthy. I haven't talked to Doyle in about a week but last he told me was if he can get it ready it will be towed by the 700 to Union Station, then after Train Day get handed off to BNSF to head east.

I can concur what flash has said - it has been invited along with 4 or 5 other units not yet announced. They are awaiting movement permission from the BNSF prior to making any announcements.

I'm guessing the SP E8 and the Warbonnet F units. This is not official info, just speculation.

Is anybody getting concerned that this event might actually be getting too big? I mean when all the heritage units were there weren't there so many people that it was difficult to walk around?

I'm hope they do the photo run byes like the heritage festival.that way you can get great pictures or videos without any people in them.

Nope, somebody had the brains to set up photo lines so everybody could get shots. Most people were friendly enough to let people shoot over their shoulders or move to let another person in to shoot. Well done event. Can't wait for the show.

You couldn't cram all the surviving F's and E's in the US into Spencer even if they were all roadworthy and connected to live rails. Here is one list of surviving E's - maybe not 100% accurate, but its tally comes to 50+ units:

I never knew there was one. Hmm....about 100 locomotives --
wonderful. I was just curious about how many of these wonderful
locomotives had escaped the scrapper torch.
