Steam & Excursion > Big Boy in the NewsDate: 05/04/14 18:59 Big Boy in the News Author: spjim Channel 4 News in Los Angeles (NBC) ran a story this evening about the UP Big Boy. The newsman completed the report by stating that "when the Big Boy is restored it will be able to run on fuel rather than steam." Good grief.

Just another example of how journalists are not necessarily the brightest bulbs in the bin. . . . Date: 05/04/14 19:34 Re: Big Boy in the News Author: HotWater Journalism is DEAD in the U.S.!

Yeah a new class.....top oil. Date: 05/05/14 07:55 Re: Big Boy in the News Author: milepost180 I'm certainly glad they figured out how to run the Big Boy on fuel instead of steam. Steam is wet, it hisses, it can vaporize, and no one likes that!

Their links can be found in earlier posts. Date: 05/05/14 09:25 Re: Big Boy in the News Author: HotWater But David, you are one of the rarest of the rare in the TV journalism field!
Date: 05/05/14 15:54 Re: Big Boy in the News Author: davew833 I work for KSL TV, the NBC affiliate in Salt Lake City. While I'm not a reporter, I did my best to coordinate with the reporter covering the #4014 story to make sure his reporting was accurate. I was pleased for the most part with how KSL covered it.

My favorite was a TV reporter down in Kansas was asked me on camera "what is that big black thing in front of the train?"
