I noticed in another video, that they seem to be having an "issue" with the front wheel set in the engine truck, as they have flange lubricators mounted in order to stop the excessive wear on the lead wheels. How about providing some close-up photos of that? I just wonder if the stiff alignment control draft gear of the lead diesel units is forcing the 4014's front engine frame assembly to one side or the other when negotiating curves, and I'll bet that engine truck doesn't like that!

Great shots of the crew. Thanks for posting them as we rarely get to see shots of them.

I was told that it was the old stiff grease in the pony truck pivot at the frame. Sorry I don't know the exact term for that. Anyway, they tried to free it up before they departed and decided to add a flange oiler. It's fabricated from some PVC pipe and that's all I could see. It's on the right (engineer's) side of the engine mounted up on the pilot deck. I don't know if they put one on the other side or not. Just reporting what I saw and was told the day before they departed. No flames, please.

The 4014 just happened to stop next to my truck as it was waiting to back into the Ogden Station. I noticed the lubrication on the pilot wheels and took a picture or two. I have no technical background, but as they say a picture or two may be worth a 1000 words to those who have a clue. Seemed to be a manual control on the lubricant flow ... Ed reached inside the pilot wheel area and seemed to turn a valve
