Steam & Excursion > Midwest Central, Mt. Pleasant, IADate: 08/28/14 16:50 Midwest Central, Mt. Pleasant, IA Author: AndyBrown Mrs. Brown and I made our annual trip to the Midwest Old Threshers reunion in Mt. Pleasant, IA today. Weather was overcast but I was delighted to see #12 running solo on the passenger train. In the 3 or 4 years they've had this engine this is the first time I've seen it operate by itself pulling the train.
Photo 1: Passing the sawmill at the south end of the grounds. 2: Pulling up the hill into the depot at the north end. I was actually a little disappointed in the sound of the exhaust on this hill; it wasn't as sharp as I'd hoped it would be. 3: Adding water. Date: 08/28/14 16:53 Re: Midwest Central, Mt. Pleasant, IA Author: AndyBrown 3: Old reliable SS&S #6 was also running; after a few light engine moves around the loop it was hooked onto the second train so two trains were operating.
4: Grab shot of #12 passing the wig-wag crossing signal. Date: 08/28/14 16:57 Re: Midwest Central, Mt. Pleasant, IA Author: AndyBrown And no, trolleys to the log village weren't ignored!
Photo 6: Milan car passes the old Yarmouth (IA, on Burlington's former Washington branch) depot at the north end of the trolley loop. 7: One of the open cars makes its stop. 8: My current favorite, the WCF&N car arrives, operated by railfan friend Stephen Borleske. Chris Date: 08/28/14 17:21 Re: Midwest Central, Mt. Pleasant, IA Author: CPRR I presume that the trolley gauge is 42", the steam gauge is 36?
