There is not a single new machine in that photo.

Sure doesn't look like it to me either. Besides, why would he touting all those "new machines", when there really isn't anybody employed there that really knows how to use any of them?

Are you positive? That grey mill in the lower left corner looks to me like a cheap Chinese knockoff of fairly recent vintage, rather than something old that will hold to specs when working. (The actual Instagram photo shows a bit more of it, this photo seems to be trimmed on at least the left and bottom.)

That picture must be from one of the many cameras installed to keep the crew from doing wrong, Damned if it didn't work, not an employee in sight!

That's a Bridgeport, not cheap at all! Plus it showed up around "08-09" thanks to Mr. Lee

Mr. Wilton,

Just curious but, have you ever been inside the Cheyenne Steam Shop?

Many of those mills, lathes, boring machines and drill presses were there when I was on the crew. They look like all have been rearranged into a smaller work area.

I'm sure Dickens would love to take credit for everything
in that shop, but the only thing he can rightfully claim
as his own is the removal of the insulation and heat and most
of the lights.

Where's the dumpster? That probably gets used more than any property in this photo.

Dang! Learn something new every day!

I had no idea Bridgeport was making and selling
cheap Chinese knockoffs of it's own machine tools.

When did that start?

No, I haven't. I've never even been in the town.

I'm looking at a picture of a shop. I've been in shops, quite a few of them in quite a few industries. I'm looking at the picture and saying to myself: "Ok, Mr Ed says this has lots of new equipment. What looks like it is new, changed, or rearranged?" Well, everything looks like it is rather more tightly arranged than it should be in an efficient shop that has to work on large stuff. But maybe that is just the camera angle. Most of it is obviously equipment that has been around SOME shop for quite a long time, and is certainly not "new". Maybe it is new to this shop, but frankly it doesn't look like it is.

The only thing in that picture that looks halfway "new" is the mill in the lower left. Maybe it has been there a while -- since I haven't been there in the shop I really don't know. But it is the newest piece of equipment on display. And while someone said it is a Bridgeport, it still looks more like an Enco Chinese knockoff to me. Maybe that's just my fading memory, its been some 20 years since the last time I used one.

In any case, without ever having seen the shop, and only going from that one picture, I see absolutely no evidence for "LOTS" of new tools. I see possible evidence for perhaps a real tool (a Bridgeport) having been removed and replaced with a new cheap knockoff. But then again, as I mentioned, maybe it was there before. That is why I ASKED one of the people that would know whether it was something that had changed.

So, Jack, since you were in the shop: was that tool there before?

Is that photo reversed? Or did he turn the 844 around to face west?

Photo isn't reversed. I don't really see anything new in the picture. There is a person with a hard hat on just in front of the yellow lockers.

Is all the new equipment behind all the old equipment ? Still looks like the shop Steve built to me. Maybe there is a new set of wrenches on a bench that I'm missing.

Ok, you've never been there, you've seen only a photo of part of the back of a machine, 2 people who worked there, saw it every day from all angles, and probably used it posted that it's a real, genuine Bridgeport, yet you claim to see evidence of a Chinese knockoff that you claim replaced a real Bridgeport?

Wow.
