This is how #45 was painted when it first entered service on CWR in July, 1965.  Even the smoke stack was painted red.

I must say I am still partial to her paint scheme when she was last in logging service in Oregon.

Martin's image can be found on page 258 of Southern Pacific's Golden Empire 1954 - 1958, The color photography of John B. hengerford and Harlod F. Stewart published by the Southern Pacific Historical & technical Society. Mr. Stewart took the photo on September 22, 1956.
