Another of Bruce Black's 'early' shots ... CN 4-8-2 #6069 at the coaling docks in Niagara Falls, ON on April 2, 1958.

Surprising how clean the paint job is at this "late" date.  Thanks for sharing.

CNR 6069 and sister 6068 were regulars at NF.  I spent a couple of summers hanging out there and Ft. Erie.  Had a few hosteler rides on this engine.

One of my favourite steam locomotives. Very classy.

I count eight chutes from the bins for loading coal.  Quite an impressive structure.

Some of those scutes held Wabash coal.  Wabash stem operation ended in 1953.  I don.t know if they emptied the chutes.  Also when a switcher shoved cars up the rump it was quite a show.  Then came the diesels.

A switcher shoving cars up the rump WOULD be quite the show.

Some trestle type coal docks did use a long ramp, and a switcher would shove cars onto it, as cited.  Many had a steeper ramp, upon which cars were shoved onto the ramp with a cable powered "Barney".
