4014 is All Ready to Go!

GOTCHA!

Cleveland, Ohio, January 14, 1977. Last run for engineer J. P. Selfarth. You can see a little tribute written in the dirt just behind the steps.

Ektachrome 35mm slide scanned with an Epson V850 Pro. Not sure who the photographer was.

Was this a commuter train? Or an OCS special? I see an E-L coach behind the engine.

I think it may have been a commuter train. Perhaps Cleveland - Youngstown.

Yup. sure is. Last holdout for EL intercity coaches.

Mmmmmmm past tense. Did WORK just fine. Unless it's enjoying life somewhere on a tourist railroad today, it was most likely scrapped a decade or so after this photo was taken.

Where are its portholes?

EL blanked the portholes in the 60's. Not sure if every one of EL's 25 E8s had its portholes removed, but I recall that by the late 60's, "no portholes" was the norm.
