I was in the Navy back then and was wearing my uniform. That night, one of the crew asked if I wanted a cab ride as they were doing some switching. Duh! Funny thing of it was that all of the crew had name tags that said "I'm not Steve Lee" ... I shoulda got a picture of that!

Was that in 1999 or 1990? She was in gray in 90 but I think back to black in 99. I liked the greyhound too.

Had to be 1990, Was only Grey from 87 to 90. The Camerail trip from CB to Marysville was its last public trip in Greyhound.

John, That was right after Trains Mag did an article on the UP Steam team. after that every where they went the public was asking all the Crew "Are you Steve Lee"? Those name tag were the way they dealt with it. Then Steve wanted real tags for the crew. Harold Mathews tag said "Harold Mathews ROF (retired old fart).

And Steve's tag read "Manager of Wierd $h!t".

I remember Steve wearing one of the "I'm not Steve Lee" pins also.

For the 1991 10th anniversary Railfair in Sacramento, the UP engine crew all had those "I'm NOT Steve Lee" name tags. I went into town and found a "sign & trophy" store, and had a whole bunch of "I'm NOT Doyle McCormack" name tags made for everyone on the SP 4449 crew. I still have mine, and wear it every trip, and it is AMAZING how many people come up to me and say, "Doyle, Doyle, I REALLY would like to talk to you!!!!!". I then point to the name tag and say, "Did you read this CAREFULLY?"; at which point they usually say, "OH,,,,,wait you're NOT Doyle!". Then, of course they want to know where Doyle is, and I usually say, "Gee I don't know, he must be around here someplace.", even if Doyle is standing right next to me!!!!

Jack I was there in 91 and remember your tags also.
