More With Southern Railway 401
Author: MaryMcPherson

Here are a few items from this extended weekend with Southern Railway #401 at the Monticello Railway Museum.

The video is a montage of angles from a photo run during Friday's photo charter at the museum. Kurt Jensen shot the lineside video, while I was taking care of the cameras mounted in the cab and aboard the cars. For anyone interested in the technical info., I used an Audio-Technica AT-2022 microphone with the cab camera to cut down on wind noise and distortion from the whistle.

The photos are of the last train of the day on Saturday, crossing the township road just north of town. The photo of the approaching train was taken with a 250mm zoom, while the photo at the crossing was taken with an 18mm wide angle at 1/20th of a second. While I don't see many other photographers use the technique, I'm a fan of the blurred action photo.
