For all Union Pacific has done, the steam fans should be more appreciative of what they have done.. I wouldn't care if Ronald McDonald was leaning from the cab -- just appreciate that this is restored and running out on the main line. His unprofessional habit of hanging himself halfway out the cab window bareheaded, barehanded and in short sleeves has given me yet another reason to strongly prefer coal fired steamers. Trust me, if the 4014 were coal fired that would end his bad habit in the first 1/2 mile as those cinders hurt big time when they land.
Being that seeing 4014 converted back to being a complete ( aka coal fired) steam locomotive are very remote at best, all we can hope for is that at some point Omaha will suggest that he adjust his M.O. to more closely reflect a professional at work. Hope springs eternal. Ross Rowland So there it is. The giant red gauntlet glove has been thrown down. I think he should have took that out and replaced it with something easier to see through when they rebuilt the cab.
